Sorel Etrog was a Canadian sculptor and printmaker working primarily in bronze, stone, and wood from the 1950s onward. His abstract forms combined biomorphic and geometric vocabularies, often suggesting movement and tension within contained volumes. Active in the postwar international avant-garde, Etrog developed a distinctive approach to three-dimensional form that bridged European modernism and North American abstraction. His work engaged with the materiality of casting and carving as generative processes rather than illustration of predetermined ideas.
