Jorge Ferrari Hardoy was an Argentine architect and furniture designer known for the iconic Butterfly Chair, a steel-frame seating form with canvas or leather slung between tubular legs. Developed in the 1930s and refined through the postwar period, the chair became a modernist standard for its structural economy and spatial efficiency. Ferrari Hardoy collaborated with Juan Kurchan and Antonio Bonet in Buenos Aires, bringing European rationalist principles to South American design practice. His furniture work exemplified the integration of industrial materials and craft techniques that defined mid-century modernism across the Americas.
