Georges Demeny was a French physiologist and chronophotographer who pioneered motion analysis through sequential photography in the 1880s. Working alongside Étienne-Jules Marey at the Station Physiologique in Paris, Demeny developed techniques to decompose human and animal movement into discrete frames, creating some of the earliest systematic visual records of locomotion. His work established foundational methods for understanding biomechanics and contributed directly to the emergence of cinema as a technical and artistic medium.
