American Type Founders was a typefoundry established in 1892 through the consolidation of multiple independent casting operations across the United States. The company standardized metal type production and distribution at an industrial scale, becoming the dominant supplier of typefaces to American printers and publishers for much of the twentieth century. ATF's output encompassed both original designs and revivals of historical letterforms, shaping the visual language of American print culture from newspapers to fine art editions.
