Millard Owen Sheets was an American painter and a formative figure in California Scene Painting, a movement emphasizing local landscape and social realism in the early-to-mid twentieth century. Beyond his paintings, Sheets designed large-scale building-mounted mosaics across Southern California that remain integral to the region's public architecture. His work is held by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
