Henry Hering was an American sculptor known for architectural ornament and public monuments executed in limestone, granite, and bronze. Working primarily in New York from the early 20th century through the 1940s, he developed a refined Beaux-Arts vocabulary applied to civic and commercial buildings, creating figural reliefs and freestanding works that balanced classical restraint with art deco geometry. His practice bridged the decorative and monumental, positioning sculpture as integral to urban design rather than autonomous object.
