Yang Pengnian is a ceramicist whose practice centers on hand-thrown and altered pottery forms that engage with both contemporary sculptural concerns and traditional Chinese ceramic techniques. Working primarily in stoneware and porcelain, he develops vessels and abstract forms that emphasize the gestural marks of the making process itself. His work integrates surface treatment, form manipulation, and material experimentation to create pieces that operate between functional pottery and autonomous sculpture.
