Akinbode Akinbiyi is a Nigerian photographer known for his sustained documentation of urban and domestic life in Lagos and other West African cities since the 1970s. Working primarily in black-and-white film, his practice centers on the texture of everyday social spaces, architecture, and the informal economies that shape contemporary African cities. His photographs privilege close observation and tonal range over narrative caption, creating a visual archive that resists both colonial and developmental framings of Africa.
