Alfred Thomas Agate was an American painter and illustrator active in the early 19th century. He is known for his work as a draughtsman on the United States Exploring Expedition (1838, 1842), where he documented Pacific landscapes and ethnographic subjects. His watercolors and drawings served both scientific and aesthetic purposes, combining precise observation with compositional skill. Agate died in 1846 at age 34.
