Emily Kam Kngwarray was an Aboriginal Australian painter from Alhalker whose abstract approach to dot painting and color field composition fundamentally redefined contemporary Aboriginal art in the late twentieth century. Working from her seventies onward, she developed a distinctive visual language that moved away from narrative iconography toward pure chromatic and gestural intensity. Her work achieved significant international exhibition presence and is represented by Pace Gallery.
