Sargam Griffin, designer and artist, was born in 1962 in Bueckeburg, Germany. As a child, Griffin traveled extensively with her family. She was particularly influenced by her trips to the North Sea, Kilimanjaro and the Pyramids. At each of these places, her imagination was captured by the textures and colors of life. In 1977, she traveled alone to Africa. Griffin has also extensively explored Europe and Egypt. She spent time living in Italy and Switzerland in 1978 and 1979. Subsequently, she went to India and spent time there from 1988-1990. All of these experiences have impacted and influenced her work from the colors she applies to the depth of the patina used on the surfaces of her paintings. These travels furthered an in depth personal exploration enhancing the development of her aesthetic self. In 1982 Griffin moved to San Francisco, where her passion for painting evolved.
