Noa Eshkol
Noa Eshkol was an Israeli choreographer and movement theorist who developed a notation system for recording dance and human motion, a precursor to digital motion capture. Working from the 1950s onward, she created abstract choreographic works that prioritized geometric precision and systematic investigation of the body's kinetic possibilities. Her Eshkol-Wachmann notation became an influential tool for dance documentation and analysis, bridging choreography with mathematics and physics. She founded the Eshkol-Wachmann Movement Notation Centre in Tel Aviv, establishing Israel as a center for experimental movement research in the postwar period.
