Trinity Altarpiece

Hugo van der Goes was a Burgundian Netherlandish draughtsman active in the mid-fifteenth century. Working primarily in pen and ink, he developed a linear language marked by precise observation of human anatomy and textile surfaces. His drawings informed large-scale altarpieces and devotional works, demonstrating the integral role of drawing in Northern Renaissance workshop practice.
