Josef Danhauser was an Austrian painter and lithographer active in the early nineteenth century, known for historical scenes and portraits rendered in a formal academic style. Working primarily in oil and lithography, he engaged with grand narrative subjects drawn from European history and literature. Based in Vienna, Danhauser became a significant figure in Central European Romantic painting before his death at age 40.
