Auguste Clésinger was a French sculptor active in the 19th century, known for marble and plaster works that bridged Neoclassical restraint and emerging Romantic sensibility. Working primarily in Paris during the mid-1800s, he produced portrait busts, allegorical figures, and monumental public commissions that reflected the tastes of the July Monarchy and Second Empire. His technical mastery of carving and modeling established him as a significant figure in French academic sculpture.
