Smirdan attack

Nicolae Grigorescu is a Romanian painter whose plein-air landscapes, peasant scenes, and ox-cart compositions became foundational to modern Romanian art in the late nineteenth century. Trained in Paris during the Barbizon period, he brought a luminous, loose brushwork to depictions of rural Wallachian life, and his canvases remain central to the collection of the National Museum of Art of Romania.
