Eliseu Visconti was an Italian painter and decorative artist born in 1866 who spent much of his career in Brazil, where he became a central figure in early modernist painting and design. Working across easel painting, murals, and applied arts, he synthesized European academic training with tropical light and Brazilian landscape subjects. His work bridged nineteenth-century salon practice and early twentieth-century modernism, influencing a generation of Brazilian artists through both his exhibition presence and his role as a cultural intermediary between Europe and South America.
