Alejandro Xul Solar was an Argentine painter and printmaker whose work synthesized spiritualism, alchemy, and pre-Columbian mythology with modernist abstraction. Working primarily in watercolor and ink, he developed a highly personal symbolic language of floating architectural forms, geometric patterns, and hybrid creatures that operated between representation and pure visual mysticism. His practice encompassed tarot design, invented languages, and speculative cosmologies rooted in esoteric philosophy.
