Painting
Georg Tappert (1880-1957) was a German Expressionist painter. Born in Berlin, Tappert was pivotal in German avant-garde circles, co-founding the Neue Secession (New Secession) group, which sought artistic innovation and rebellion against traditional styles. Known for his vibrantly colored, robustly outlined figures, Tappert's works often depicted scenes of urban nightlife, particularly focusing on representations of women, capturing the era's underlying and societal shifts. Despite facing persecution for his art under the Nazi regime, Tappert's contributions were essential to Expressionism and the exploration of modern identity and culture.
