Alfred Drury
Sculpture
Alfred Drury was a British architectural sculptor whose monumental figures defined early 20th-century London's civic landscape. Working in the New Sculpture movement, he created decorative busts, war memorials, and colossal statues integrated into building facades and public spaces. His most recognizable works include the figures on the Old War Office in Whitehall, elements of the Victoria and Albert Museum facade, and four monumental statues on Vauxhall Bridge. Drury's practice ranged from intimate statuettes to architectural ornament scaled to dominate urban vistas.
