Sonja Ferlov was a Danish sculptor working primarily in stone and clay during the postwar period. Her practice centered on abstracted organic forms that negotiated between figuration and pure materiality, often employing direct carving techniques that emphasized the sculptural process itself. Active from the 1930s through the 1980s, Ferlov developed a distinctive vocabulary of biomorphic shapes that reflected modernist abstraction while maintaining a tactile, handmade sensibility.
