"Swaged-Leg" Armchair

Charles Pollock was an American abstract painter and the eldest brother of Jackson Pollock. Working primarily in oil on canvas, he developed a geometric abstraction distinct from his brother's gestural approach, employing bold color fields and architectural compositions. Active in the postwar New York art scene, his work remained less visible than that of his siblings, though his paintings engaged seriously with color theory and compositional structure.
