Georges Liautaud
Georges Liautaud was a Haitian metalworker whose wrought-iron sculptures established a distinctive formal vocabulary in Caribbean modernism. Working primarily in hammered and welded scrap metal, he created figural and abstract forms that drew on both Vodou spiritual iconography and the material constraints of post-colonial Port-au-Prince. His work anticipated international interest in Haitian art and remains foundational to twentieth-century Caribbean sculpture.
