Target I

Johns's first lithograph was a target; he chose the same subject for his first etching. Target I was printed in a tiny edition, in part because of the rarity of the paper—handmade by the Grosmans' neighbor Jeff Goodman—and also because it was made primarily for Johns's personal edification.
