<p>Frankenthaler began work on <em>Venice</em> by drawing with tusche wash on several stones. She transferred her preferred forms to fresh stones and set others aside to be resurrected for later projects, such as <em>Ocean Floor (with Tony’s Orange)</em>.</p>
