Persistent Rain (Das Landregen)

André Thomkins was a Swiss artist working across drawing, painting, and experimental notation systems in the postwar period. His practice emerged from an engagement with automatic and chance-based processes, creating densely layered compositions that resisted conventional representation. Operating largely outside institutional frameworks, Thomkins developed a distinctive visual language that treated the canvas as a field for linguistic and gestural investigation rather than pictorial resolution.
