John Muafangejo was a Namibian printmaker and painter who worked primarily in linocut and woodcut, producing bold figurative compositions that documented the social and political life of Namibia during the apartheid era. His images of domestic scenes, labor, and community gatherings were rendered in high-contrast black and white, characterized by dense linear patterns and a narrative clarity that made his work accessible and politically potent. Active from the 1960s until his death in 1987, Muafangejo created a visual archive of Namibian identity at a critical moment in the nation's history.
