Painting
Mary Beth Edelson was an American artist and feminist pioneer whose practice spanned performance, photography, drawing, and installation from the 1970s onward. Her work often engaged with spiritual and archetypal imagery, particularly the figure of the goddess, and interrogated the relationship between the body, ritual, and representation. She was instrumental in the development of feminist performance art and frequently collaborated with other women artists to create politically and spiritually charged collective works. Her photographs and mixed-media pieces challenged conventional narratives around female identity and creativity.
