Roberto Obregón was a Venezuelan painter and sculptor whose work emerged from the postwar abstraction movement in Latin America. Working primarily in oil and mixed media, he developed a gestural approach that synthesized European modernism with Venezuelan cultural and natural forms. His practice spanned five decades and established him as a significant figure in twentieth-century Venezuelan art.
