Betty Woodman was an American ceramic artist who expanded pottery beyond functional ware into sculptural and architectural territory. Working primarily in glazed earthenware and clay from the 1950s onward, she developed boldly colored vessels and wall-mounted forms that rejected the minimalist austerity of postwar ceramic practice.
