<p>Joan Livingstone's felt sculptures are the result of a laborious creative process. the felt is not molded, as hats are, but is pieced together and stitched; there is no internal structure or support. the form is suspended in a wooden exoskeleton, then pulled, weighted, and soaked in epoxy resins, which harden. The surface is subsequently sanded, pigmented, and worked until a beautiful, leather-like patina develops.</p>
