Carsten Nicolai is a German artist and physicist whose practice investigates the intersection of art, science, and mathematics through sculpture, installation, and light-based works. Working across scales from tabletop experiments to large architectural interventions, he employs principles of symmetry, chaos theory, and quantum mechanics as formal and conceptual generators. His installations often expose the visual logic underlying natural systems and perceptual phenomena, creating encounters between the measurable and the ineffable.
