Augustus Wall Callcott was a British painter of landscapes and historical subjects working primarily in oil during the early nineteenth century. Active in the Royal Academy from the 1800s onward, he developed a practice centered on picturesque scenery and dramatic narratives drawn from literature and classical sources.
