By accessing and using Watts Index ("the Service"), operated by Studio Watts LLC, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Watts Index is an institutional data product: a structured, source-verified database of artists, artworks, exhibitions, and institutions. The Service comprises the public reference website, source-attributed verification reports, batch screening, and a data API. Institutional access is provisioned by agreement.
You must provide accurate information when requesting access or creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API keys, and for all activities under your account. Keys may not be shared outside the licensed organization.
Subject to your agreement with us, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use data retrieved from the Service for your internal business purposes. Unless expressly agreed in writing, you may not resell, redistribute, or republish the database or substantial portions of it, use it to build a competing product, or scrape the Service outside the documented API.
Every fact in the record carries field-level provenance to its originating source. Verification reports describe the state of the record and its sources at the time of issue. Watts Index does not authenticate physical objects and does not provide appraisals; reports are a factual research record, not a certificate of authenticity or a valuation.
Institutional licenses and reports are billed per your agreement, processed through Stripe. Fees are non-refundable except as required by law or expressly agreed.
The Service and its data are provided "as is" for informational and research purposes. While every fact is source-attributed, we do not warrant that the record is complete or error-free, and we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on it. Our aggregate liability is limited to the fees paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access that violates these terms, including unlicensed redistribution or scraping. Sections 4, 5, and 7 survive termination.
