Why this artist matters now
Aria Dean works across video, installation, and text to examine how digital culture, surveillance, and racialized bodies intersect within systems of display and knowledge production. Her practice moves fluidly between artistic creation and critical writing, with essays published in Artforum, e-flux, and Art in America. Dean co-directs As It Stands LA, a project space founded in 2015, and previously served as Curator and Editor of Rhizome. Her work has been exhibited at Foxy Production in New York and Arcadia Missa in London.
