Still Life

Václav Vytlacil was an American painter and influential modernist educator known for his rigorous abstract compositions and color theory instruction. Born in New York to Czech immigrant parents, he developed a systematic approach to form and chromatic relationships that shaped his own work and his teaching at multiple institutions throughout the twentieth century. His paintings combine geometric precision with expressive gesture, working primarily in oil on canvas.
