Václav Vytlacil was an American painter and influential modernist educator known for his rigorous abstract compositions and color theory instruction. Born in New York to Czech immigrant parents, he developed a systematic approach to form and chromatic relationships that shaped his own work and his teaching at multiple institutions throughout the twentieth century.
